Thanks to leaks and hands-on demos, we know the OEM kept the coveted headphone jack, but omitted one treasured feature in its place — the notification LED. Why did Samsung strip the S10 of this light, and can users expect something to replace it?
Notification LEDs have been an integral part of Samsung devices for years. Android fans might not remember a time before these lights, and for good reason — they're super cool. Notification LEDs offer an easy, unintrusive way to know whether or not you have alerts on your phone. No sounds, no light-up displays, just a small, convenient blink. Then why get rid of it? Well, it most likely isn't an intentional omission, at least not in the sense of, say, an outdated port.
Rather, the notification LED is simply a casualty of Samsung's bold new design. In order to create that seamless edge-to-edge infinity display, something had to give. You can't have a traditional notification LED when the space it needs to take up is currently occupied by that coveted screen real estate. Undoubtedly, long-time fans will be disappointed.
While they can still boast over most of the smartphone world with their intact headphone jacks, the new S10 is just another device to lose the notification LED. So, where do we go from here? Well, perhaps around the display. Samsung's Edge Lighting is much like a notification LED, except instead of being one single light, the entire border of the display lights up. While the feature only works while interacting with your phone, it's a cool replacement for notification popups, and offers a lot in the way of user customization.
Still, it's not quite a true replacement for the simple nature of the notification LED. Hopefully, Samsung includes an always-on display version of the notification LED, or, better yet, utilizes the ring light around the selfie camera as a notification LED.
Sadly, there are no official plans for either of these replacements at this time.

Id like to see the LEDs returned rather it lights up the edge every few seconds would be fine or add the light near or around the frame of the front face camera.
The other loved feature has also been removed.
Adding a background photo to my text messages screen. Last but not least, the photos look faded. Here's to hoping for better photo and features in the note I agree with Randi Taylor. There is room on the top and bottom. The S9 and S8 both have the same amount of bezel as the S Don't forget that the cutout affects full screen videos, apps, and games.
It also makes the status bar massive. Samsung also got rid of the pressure sensitive home button!Notifications LED has been a native feature on android smartphones for a long time now.
So with all these benefits of notifications LED on our smartphones, who would be careless enough to remove them on their smartphones? So they came up with the hole punch camera design, that is, cutting an actual hole, i mean a physical hole, on the displays of these new smartphones in question, then fitting in the front facing camera s in there, because there was no space left at the top bezel of the phone where such components like the front facing camera usually stay.
So they had no other choice but to do away with those components, and with one of them being the good old native notifications LED light. You can click on the link below to quickly jump to the second method. After installation, tap on it again to open it. So that when next you have a new notification, you will see a ring of light circling around the hole punch camera cutouts of your Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Note 20 smartphones, instead of at the edge of their displays.
Aside from setting the Edge Lighting effect, you can further go ahead to customise things a little bit with the few options that are provided to you by Samsung. Like i explained earlier, this method will give you more control and various customisation options that you can play with while setting up the notifications LED, but take note that the process to achieve this might be a little stressful, confusing and overwhelming at some point, but if you follow the steps which will be listed below religiously, you should have your own custom-made hole punch inspired LED notifications light in no time.
Now i want to believe that at this time, your app should be up and running, and you should be looking at an interface that looks exactly like this. Although the app interface might change due to subsequent future updates, but even it does, they should pretty much look alike nevertheless.
From this new page, make sure to select your options the same way they have been selected as shown on the image below.
You will be given some more options of saving your settings. Now for starters, you can decide to pick your options same way that they are selected from the screenshots above, or if you want to go gangster, you can go ahead and tinker with the numerous options, enabling and disabling them one after the other, to see what each one does, while making sure you preview every change you make, before going to the next. Now this is the portion of the app that lets you customise the look and feel of your hole punch inspired notifications LED.
After making sure that everything has been aligned properly the way you want it to be, you can ahead and play around with the different lighting effects and colors.
The level of customisation which you can do on this app is just endless, you can change the behavior of the lighting effect around your camera cutout, you can mix various max 3 colors together, and every other form of customisation that you can think of.
Now aside from setting and customizing hole punch inspired notifications on your smartphones, this app also gives you a handful of cool live animated wallpapers that you can choose from. Only thing you can only have access to these wallpapers when you purchase the premium version of the app.
Okay, now back to our hole punch notifications LED.Notifications appearing on the screen of your smartphone are designed to attract your attention. Notifications usually announce their arrival with a sound to make sure you know when you just got a text or missed a call. You may be able to turn off your volume, the screen away from you, or you may have a hearing impairment that prevents you from hearing the notification.
However, the process will be the same on all Samsung devices that are running on Android In addition, there are few situations where we need to keep the phone in silent mode, and the chances of missing calls and alerts are increasing.
The good news is that a Samsung setting that does just that actually exists. With this setting enabled, the LED light of your phone will also flash when you receive a notification, along with the vibration or sound you choose.
This can help people who may be mute, difficult to hear or simply prefer a visual alert. Here are the steps to activate flash or flashing light notification on Samsung Galaxy devices Android Step 1. Open the Settings app on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone. Note : You can also use both of them at the same time then for that you have to turn on both. Tap the Preview for testing Camera flash or Screen flash.
Flash Alerts 2 is the best third-party app on Play Store to use flashing light notification while ringing a phone. This application includes advanced features such as allowing you to schedule the time for ON and OFF Flash alerts, control the blinking frequency, and the flash will blink on any status bar notification.

With the new Galaxy S20Plus and Ultra editions, however, Samsung takes its stock notification light replacement solution, called Edge Lighting, to a whole new level that doesn't require you to search for any extras. Tap Add keyword to configure a smart lighting effect triggered by specific text in notification titles and body. Tap Choose apps to pick those applications that can activate Edge lighting when a notification is received. Tap Done when finished. There you go, you can now trigger a red notification light running around your Galaxy S20 when there is the word "coronavirus" mentioned in your Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp or Gmail alerts.
We kid, but it's still a rather cool feature that will hopefully trickle down to the Galaxy S10 family's Edge Lighting options, too.

Let me start by saying i don't miss it particularly as i set my phone to vibrate for notifications and this mutes when Do Not disturb is enabled. I have lots of S10 content in my Youtube feed and this video popped up for an app that lets you put a light ring around the cutouts and also does edge lighting as well.
The app is free but ad supported or you can pay 0. I would suggest trying it out first to make sure it works perfectly before paying.
I think Samsung will eventually give us a notification light for the cutouts soon but for those that can't waitcheck the link below. I'm trying it out now to see if it works for me. It's really frustrating that Samsung removed what I consider to be a critical feature. If I get a text, I want to see a little blue light or dot from across the room. Other notifications can be other colors or, frankly, I don't even care about being notified of other things but really the charge state and "text message" are the two I need.
I don't even use the "edge"--I don't want a brilliant animated glow from the screen lighting up a dark meeting roomjust a little dot, or maybe the camera ring which is actually pretty cool.
The AOD software mentioned above isn't really designed to add a notification light. But it also doesn't work well. Sometimes a text lights up the ring, other times it doesn't. Collosal timewaster. It has no capability of displaying the battery charge level as a notification ring.Sgp conference
I don't want the AOD to show notifications. I don't want to have to get up and walk over to "touch" the phone to see a notification. I want to see it from 10 feet away just like every other device I've ever had. Great phone, but really short-sighted on some of the lack of features. Some articles I have read noted the notification light will be a "Day 1" feature but here we are 10 days post-release and all we hear are crickets chirping and links to this AOD program which doesn't resolve the core issue.I am writing this article because a lot people are asking me which are the Samsung Galaxy Smartphones with LED notification and the ones with out it.
We all know that LED notification on Galaxy series of Android smartphones are a smart innovation by the Korean mobile phone giant.

But they are little bit conservative when it comes to this feature on their smartphones.
